“Shelter” at Christies London
2026 is underway and it’s nice to have an exhibition to look forward to already. The Outside In National Exhibition, Shelter, will be opening at Christie’s London on the 12th of January. I’ve attached the press release from the Outside In website below which includes a link to the online shop where the works can be viewed and purchased. With huge thanks to everyone involved at Outside In for their work and support throughout this process. It’s been a great honour to have a painting included in the exhibition and I look forward to seeing it open in London.
Outside In is delighted to present our seventh National Open exhibition, Shelter, in partnership with The New Art Gallery Walsall and Christie’s London.
Running from July to October 2025 at The New Art Gallery Walsall, ‘Shelter’ was visited by over 28,000 people. As Gill Crawshaw noted in Disability Arts Online, it is “a terrific exhibition on a theme that is deeply significant, lending itself to many different interpretations by the artists.”
The exhibition features 81 artists working across painting, sculpture, textiles, installation, and digital media. Their works explore themes such as homelessness, the meaning of home, community, and the human need for safety and connection. Highlights include Helen Grundy’s digital collage “Helter-Shelter”, SewNSew’s textile “Dreaming of Home Sweet Home”, and Kelan Andrews’ dollhouse sculpture “Scene”.
Artists were chosen from over 600 submissions by a panel including Exodus Crooks, Outside In artists Pamela Schilderman and George Parker-Conway, and curators from The New Art Gallery Walsall, with two additional artists commissioned: Chantal Pitts, whose sculptural piece acts as a shelter and information point for Ambassadors, and Natasha Taheem, whose large-scale drawing celebrates community and belonging.
Many works are available for purchase via Outside In Shop
‘Shelter’ will tour to Christie’s London in January 2026, with Ambassadors in the space to welcome visitors.
