July Update

I was out of the studio for a few weeks this month but things have been happening behind the scenes. I’ve been very fortunate with some of the open calls I have submitted work to this year, including the Jacksons Art Prize and the Outside In National Exhibition. However there have been plenty of rejections too, which is something you get used to as an artist. July started with one such rejection from the Cass Art Prize but that was eased a little by being notified on the same day I had two paintings make the longlist for the 2025 Visual Art Open! The shortlist will be announced in August.

I’m also pleased to have a painting pre-selected for the 2025 Royal Ulster Academy exhibition. I’ll be dropping the painting in for the next round of judging. I’ve had a painting pre-selected before and not make the final cut so we’ll wait and see. Again the final selection will be announced in August.
